Cancellation Policy

Refund Policy – Auckland University Underwater Club (AUUC)

1. Trip Cancellation by AUUC:
In the event that AUUC cancels a trip due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., adverse weather conditions, safety concerns, or other exceptional reasons):

  • A full refund of the base trip price and any gear hiring costs will be provided.

  • Payment transaction fees are non-refundable

2. Participant Withdrawal from a Trip:
If a participant chooses to withdraw from a trip:

  • The base trip price is typically non-refundable. Partial or full refund may be considered if sufficient notice of withdrawal and/or a replacement is found.

  • Any gear hiring costs will be refunded in full, provided the gear was not used.

3. Removal from a Trip:
AUUC reserves the right to remove any participant from a trip if their behaviour, actions, or attitudes are inconsistent with the club’s values or code of conduct. In such cases:

  • The conditions outlined in Section 2 ("Participant Withdrawal from a Trip") will apply regarding refunds.

4. Non-Refundable Items:
Certain items and fees may be non-refundable regardless of trip cancellation, withdrawal, or removal, such as membership fees or special costs incurred for group bookings (e.g. accommodation, flights etc). These will be communicated clearly at the time of registration.

5. Communication and Refund Process:

  • AUUC will contact participants directly regarding any trip cancellations or removals.

  • Refunds, if applicable, will be processed within 10 business days of the notification. Participants will need to provide their bank account details to facilitate the refund.

6. Policy Updates:
AUUC reserves the right to update or amend this refund policy at any time. Members will be notified of any changes via email and club communication channels.

Other Notes for our Trips:

  1. As a general rule, trip price is for diving (usually 2 dives in one day). It does not include gear hire, air fills, accommodation, food or wreck surcharges. However some do, so check with the Trip Organiser.

  2. If it has been more than six months since you last dived, you haven’t done many dives or you haven’t dived in cold water before – then you may be required to do a refresher dive course. If you think this may apply to you, please let the Trip Organiser know.

  3. Experience Level is an indication only. There are no hard and fast rules. A person who has done 30 dives in cold water over six months may be considered more experienced than a person who has done 50 dives in tropical water over ten years. Everybody has a different level of confidence and competence in the water. Please feel welcome to discuss whether your experience level is appropriate for a trip with the Trip Organiser.

Sea Minus: These will be run throughout the year when conditions are favourable and skippers are available. These trips on the club boat will be advertised on both here and on our facebook page, so keep an eye out!
